Corner Creek

If any bourbon can be defined by a metaphor its label creates, then Corner Creek taste like nature’s fountain filters called the small creeks of Kentucky. And like a creek, Corner Creek is smooth enough to sip but raw enough to taste. It’s light sweet smell and golden flavor is like sipping from a cherry oak vanilla creek. It’s light golden color is like the sunset reflecting from the corner creek. As its body spreads through your body, it feels like the sunset is shining on you, too.

Corner Creek can flow smooth and long until you find yourself a fountain. That is why when sipping on the creek you best be aware how easy it goes down before you become part of the creek.

ISLE OF JURA 16 YEAR OLD SINGLE MALT SCOTCH WHISKY

This scotch whisky from an isle flows to the seas and ocean breeze into the bottle through mouth and body. The waves of taste flow to mouth like a long tide touching the back of tongue. When the tide recedes a clean tongue it leaves a feel of the bliss of the ocean on a summer day. The peat recedes like the tide because drinking Jura is like a beach with citrus trees and oak fires burning away the night…Like oak with orange squirts and floating sugar from the ocean flow. Sunset bliss gleams. It’s faint smoke smooth blows with the waves flowing ocean breeze next to a forest of oak and orange. After many drinks the subtle body flowed in and out of mouth like the ambient nature of an ocean tide flowing over and back a beach. And like a beautiful scene of…

Jim Beam Rye

Jeam Beam Rye at least tastes like an American Rye.

Eagle Rare

Eagle Rare by Buffalo Trace Distillery lands on my taste buds like the rare single barrel bliss it can be. A balanced flight of sweet, corn and oak that lands in the mouth smooth with a swoop of fumes that spread over the tongue. The Eagle Rare glides through the body like carried by a breeze through a warm Spring day over an oak forests.

8 Seconds

Eight seconds is more than enough time to realize 8 Seconds is a Canadian Rye with slight oak and the sweet of the vanilla bean and the sweet corn with rye giving some flavor. 8 Seconds is like an American Rye with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It’s good. It drinks better than some of the mists and hosts of Canadian Rye, but still not as tasty as an American Rye. The flavor does remain until the third drink. And it is worth the third drink and the fourth drink. It may very will be healthier to have four drinks of 8 Seconds than having four scoops of vanilla Ice cream and four drinks of American Rye like Rittenhouse.

Fighting Cock

Fighting Cock puts up a good battle, but feels weak when fighting American Ryes, and tastes sour when fighting with other bourbons. The sour mash sweetness tames the weak rye swipe that doesn’t cut an impression nor take a strong cock out of the fight. The above average alcohol proof proves alcohol proof doesn’t always make for a strong drink to fight after drinking many. Fighting Cock proves bourbon is a tame whiskey, so the Fighting Cock talks a good game with the fact it contains rye, but the rye doesn’t add to the bite, the peck or the taste. Fighting Cock is best after few whiskies then your senses are numb to the fact the Fight Cock is either too young and inexperienced or too weak to fight.
